Glossary – terms around link containers

Short definitions of the most important terms around Zaulto and secure link sharing: stealth mode, AutoProtect, geo/IP rules, captcha, link check and more.

AutoProtect

A Zaulto feature that automatically secures a container on publishing: the container page stays inaccessible to automated crawlers, while real visitors get through normally after the access check. Together with stealth mode, the basis for bot-safe posting.

Captcha

A small test that distinguishes humans from bots before a container is released. It keeps automated crawlers out that would mass-harvest open link lists, and is a simple, effective access hurdle.

Click'n'Load (CNL)

A method that hands links to a local download manager like JDownloader with one click – without copying them manually. Zaulto supports Click'n'Load, so unlocked container links land in the download manager instantly.

Container (link container)

An encrypted bundle of several download links shared under a single address. Instead of handing out an open list, a container protects the links with password, captcha and other rules and only releases them after the access check.

DLC container

DLC stands for Download Link Container – an encrypted file format that bundles a collection of download links. Download managers can read a DLC file and import all contained links at once. DLC is today's common standard among container formats.

Encryption

The method that makes the links in a container unreadable as long as the access check isn't met. Only those who pass password, captcha and the remaining rules get to see the decrypted links.

Expiry date & access limit

Two protection rules that limit a container by time or volume: the expiry date makes it unreachable after a deadline, the access limit after a set number of views. Ideal for confidential or one-off shares.

Geo & IP rules

Access rules that define from which regions (geo) or which networks/addresses (IP) a container is reachable. They restrict access in a targeted way, reduce unwanted views and make sharing more precise.

Link check

A check of whether the links contained in a container are still valid and reachable. This reveals early when a source is offline so you can update the container before recipients hit dead links.

Proof-of-work

A spam protection where the sender's browser must solve a small computational task before submitting. It's imperceptible for individual humans but expensive for mass spam – Zaulto uses it e.g. in the contact form, entirely without a captcha.

Stealth mode

A mode that hides a container page from automated crawlers: bots see no usable content, while real visitors get through normally after the access check. This lets you post links publicly without offering them to bots for harvesting.
