A DLC container (Download Link Container) is an encrypted file that bundles and protects several download links. Instead of sharing individual links in the open, you pack them into a container – this protects the links from automated harvesting and makes sharing entire download collections easy. Zaulto brings this concept to the browser: no installation, with password protection, captcha and access rules.
Anyone who wants to share several related download links – such as a multi-part archive or a set of mirrors – faces two problems: long link lists are messy, and openly posted links are quickly harvested by bots, reported or blocked. A container solves both by managing all links bundled and encrypted.
The recipient receives only a single short reference. The contained links are released only when the container is opened in a controlled way – with Zaulto additionally secured by captcha, an optional password and geo/IP rules.
DLC (Download Link Container) is the most common format and uses a client-server model for encryption and decryption: the actual link information is processed on the user's side, while the server only handles the key exchange. CCF and RSDF are older container formats with a similar purpose, but are rarely created today.
In practice, DLC is the most relevant format because it is supported by common download managers such as JDownloader. Zaulto creates containers you can process through exactly these channels.
DLC files are binary and encrypted – you cannot simply read them in a text editor. To open one you need a download manager that understands the format. The most common is JDownloader: add the container, and the manager decrypts and displays the contained links.
With Zaulto there is no need for the cumbersome file route when sharing: you manage and protect your links directly in the browser and only pass on a single secure container reference – without any local software.
Zaulto combines the advantages of classic containers with modern web security: your links are stored encrypted on the server and are never delivered publicly in plain text. For each container you decide who may access it, when and how often – with a password, built-in captcha, geo/IP rules, time and quantity limits as well as stealth mode and automatic protection (AutoProtect).
All of this works without installation, data-minimal and without tracking – on your smartphone too.
In just a few steps you bundle your download links into a protected container:
