Short definitions of the most important terms around Zaulto and secure link sharing: stealth mode, AutoProtect, geo/IP rules, captcha, link check and more.
An add-on to URL masking that can be switched on per container: when a visitor clicks a masked link, Zaulto shows an intermediate page with a short wait (5 seconds by default) and an invisible proof-of-work, and only then redirects to the hoster. This way the links can't be harvested by a simple script.
Related terms: Stealth mode, Captcha, Geo & IP rules
A small test that distinguishes humans from bots before a container is released. It makes it costly for automated crawlers to mass-harvest link lists, and is a simple, effective access hurdle. Zaulto offers four kinds: arithmetic, invisible proof-of-work, custom question and Cloudflare Turnstile (when set up by the operator).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Related terms: Proof-of-work, AutoProtect, Stealth mode
A method that hands links to a local download manager like JDownloader with one click – without copying them manually. Zaulto supports Click'n'Load for containers where the creator has switched it on – the links then land in the download manager instantly after the access check.
Related terms: DLC container, Container (link container)
An encrypted bundle of several download links shared under a single address. Instead of handing out an open list, a container can protect the links with password, captcha and other rules and then only releases them after the access check.
Related terms: DLC container, Encryption, Click'n'Load (CNL)
DLC stands for Download Link Container – an encrypted file format that bundles a collection of download links. Download managers can read a DLC file and import all contained links at once. DLC is today's common standard among container formats.
Related terms: Container (link container), Click'n'Load (CNL), Encryption
Zaulto stores a container's target links encrypted on the server with AES-256-GCM. The key is on the server (not end-to-end encryption) and does not depend on the container password; title, description, file names and hoster names are stored in plain text. The links are only delivered once a visitor passes the configured protection rules.
Related terms: Container (link container), DLC container
Two protection rules that limit a container by time or volume: the expiry date deletes it at a deadline, the access limit kicks in after a set number of unlocks – after that the container hands out no more links or deletes itself via self-destruct. Ideal for confidential or one-off shares.
Related terms: Geo & IP rules, Stealth mode
Access rules that define from which countries (geo) a container is reachable or stays blocked, and which networks/addresses (IP) are blocked. They restrict access in a targeted way, reduce unwanted views and make sharing more precise.
Related terms: Expiry date & access limit, AutoProtect, Stealth mode
A check of whether the links contained in a container are still valid and reachable. This reveals early when a source is offline so you can update the container before recipients hit dead links.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Related terms: Container (link container), DLC container
A spam protection where the sender's browser must solve a small computational task before submitting. It's imperceptible for individual humans but expensive for mass spam – Zaulto uses it e.g. in the contact form, entirely without a captcha.
Related terms: Captcha, AutoProtect
A mode in which visitors who fail a protection rule (geo, IP block, limit, expiry, deleted …) see “not found” (404) instead of “blocked” (403) – to them the container looks as if it doesn't exist. Stealth mode is on by default for new containers.
